2025 Club Schedule

Regular club meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday morning of each month (except July & August), at 10 am, via Zoom (link is emailed to club members a few days before each meeting). Watch this page for updates & details on topics, speakers, walks / field trips, exhibitions & other club events.

  • Jan. 1 through March 31: Club group show at Gabriola Chiropractic offices. More info.
  • Through January: Club group show downstairs at Gabriola Medical Centre (runs to Feb. 20). More info.
  • Wed. Jan. 15: first Club meeting of the year – photo sharing, “Your 10 Favourite Photos from 2024“.
  • Photo assignment: “Shadows”. Photos due by Feb. 16.
  • Wed. Feb. 5: Club meeting – Guest speaker: Hazel Meredith, “Creativity with your Smartphone” – we’ll learn how to make exciting, creative images on a smart phone, and explore some of Haze’s favorite apps for creative processing. The session will be applicable for both iPhone and Android users. Here’s all the info.
  • Wed. Feb. 19: Club meeting – photo sharing: “Shadows”
  • Until Feb. 20: Club group show continues downstairs at Gabriola Medical Centre.
  • Fri. Feb. 21: New exhibit opens downstairs at Medical Centre (runs to April 10): the Palette People will be showing paintings.
  • Through February: Gabriola Photography Club exhibit continues at Gabriola Chiropractic offices.
  • Wed. March 5: Club meeting. Guest speaker: Silvana Della Camera, “Essentials of Time Lapse Photography” – details to come.
  • Wed. March 19: Club meeting – sharing of photos from “Creative Phone Photography” assignment
  • Through March: Both Club exhibits continue – at Gabriola Chiropractic offices (to March 31) and downstairs at Gabriola Medical Centre (to April 10).
  • Wed. April 2: Club meeting. Guest speaker: David Johnston, “Contemplative Landscape Photography” – learn how to to slow down, see landscapes more intimately and capture creative, high quality photos. Here’s all the info.
  • Wed. April 9: Field trip to Comox Valley, with members of Comox Valley club. Leave Gabriola on 0810 ferry. For more info or to join in. (Fall-back date if needed: April 23.)
  • Fri. April 11: New exhibit by John Konovsky opens downstairs at Medical Centre – “A Single Element” – more info (runs to June 5).
  • Wed. April 16: Club meeting – (virtual) presentation by Corinne Flaws: “Adventures in Antarctica”. Also Tues. April 22 (in-person) on Gabriola. Here’s all the info for both events.
  • Wed. May 7: Club meeting. Guest speaker: Jürgen Lobert, “Embrace the Night: Introduction to Night Photography” – here’s all the info.
  • Wed. May 21: Club meeting – photo sharing: “Macro or Close-up“. Plus we’ll see photos from our April field trip to the Comox Valley.
  • Through May: Jonn Konovsky’s exhibit continues downstairs at Medical Centre (to June 5).
  • Wed. June 4: Club meeting – presentation by Vicky Scott on Wildlife of Borneo
  • Fri. June 6: New exhibit opens downstairs at Medical Centre – group show by Gabriola Photography Club, details to come (runs until July 31).
  • Wed. June 18: Last Club meeting before summer break – photo sharing: any of the presenter themes from this spring:  Creative Phone Photography; Essentials of Time-lapse; Contemplative Landscape; Introduction to Night Photography—mix and match or stick to one theme—you choose! Also, time permitting, a slide show of photos from the April field trip to the Comox Valley.
  • Through July: Exhibit (group show) continues downstairs at Medical Centre
  • Fri. Aug. 1: New exhibit by Corinne Flaws opens downstairs at Medical Centre (info to come; runs until Sept. 25)
  • Wed. Sept. 3: Club meeting – welcome back! Photo sharing: “Something I did, learned, noticed or tried” during the summer.
  • Wed. Sept. 17: Club meeting – photo sharing: “Reflections”.
  • Wed. Oct. 1: Club meeting – photo sharing: “Contrast or contradictions”.
  • Wed. Oct. 3 (date subject to change): New exhibit by Dirk Huysman opens downstairs at Medical Centre (runs until Nov. 20).
  • Wed. Oct. 15: Club meeting. – photo sharing: “Patterns or repeating elements” (NEW DATE)
  • Thurs. Oct. 16: Field trip to Kinsol Trestle.
  • Tues. Nov. 5: Club meeting. Guest speaker: Libby Gunn, “Vimy and beyond: Visiting war-related sites in northern France” (more info to come).
  • Wed. Nov. 19: Club meeting. Guest speaker: John Barclay, “Dream – Believe – Create”. Here’s all the info and a few of John’s images. (NEW DATE)
  • Fri. Nov. 21: New exhibit by Blair Mann opens downstairs at Medical Centre, to run until January 2026 (details to come)
  • Sunday, Nov. 23: Gabriola Photography Club’s annual Fall Show & Sale at Rollo Centre, 12pm to 4pm. (More info to come.)
  • Wed. Dec. 3: Club meeting – photo sharing: “Night Photography” (NEW DATE)
  • Wed. Dec. 18: Club meeting – photo sharing: “Tis the season…” (interpret as you like!)
