2026 Club Schedule

Regular club meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month (except July & August) at 10 am, via Zoom (link is emailed to club members a few days before each meeting). Watch this page for updates & details on topics, speakers, walks / field trips, exhibitions & other club events.

  • Wed. Jan. 7: Club meeting. Guest speaker John Barclay, “Dream – Believe – Create” (rescheduled from fall 2025)
  • Mon. Jan. 12: a new group exhibit opens downstairs at Gabriola Medical Centre, runs to Feb. 26. Here’s the info.
  • Wed. Jan. 21: Club meeting – photo sharing, “Your 10 Favourite Photos from 2025“. Send your photos in by Sun. Jan. 18 please.
  • Wed. Feb. 4: Club meeting. Presentation by club member Ron Rivers – “13 days in Ecuador “: Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire; the Equator — both the “French Equator” and the real Equator — and the unique and precious Galápagos Islands.
  • Wed. Feb. 18: Club meeting. Photo sharing: “Winter on the West Coast”.
  • Fri. Feb. 27: new exhibit opens downstairs at Gabriola Medical Centre: “Wildlife Called Her: Remembering Sharron-Palmer Hunt”, canvas wildlife prints by the late wildlife photographer and our former club president. Exhibit runs to Apr. 16..
  • Wed. Mar. 4: Club meeting. Presentation by club member Blair Mann on his recent road trip to Yukon and Alaska.
  • Wed. Mar. 18: Club meeting. Sharing our “Negative space” assignment photos, and seeing photos from a walk our club did with visiting Vancouver photographers last fall.
  • Fri. Mar. 20: Club field trip, Cox Park trails, 1 pm.
  • Wed. Apr. 1: Club meeting. Guest speaker: Martin Ross – “Impact in nature photography”. More info here.
  • Wed. Apr. 15: Club meeting. We’ll be sharing our photos from our assignment: “Ordinary…or Extraordinary?”, Get creative with ordinary (or even “boring”) subjects – try to think outside the box when you photograph them.
  • Fri. Apr. 17: new exhibit, “Legacy: Honouring the work of John Poirier“ opens downstairs at Gabriola Medical Centre, runs to June 4. Here’s all the info.
  • Wed. May 6: Club meeting. Presentation by club member John Konovsky on the the landscapes, flora, fauna (and a little bit about the folks) who live in the Sonoran Desert of Mexico.
  • Fri. May 8: Club field trip, Coats Marsh, 10 am. More info to come.
  • Wed. May 20: Club meeting. Guest speaker: Julian Elliott (UK) on Mongolia. Here’s all the info. [POSTPONED – will re-schedule him for a later date, likely in 2027.]

  • Fri. Sept. 11: new exhibit by Bill Pope opens – “Music to Your Eyes”. Downstairs at Gabriola Medical Centre, runs to Oct. 29. More info here.
  • Wed. Sept. 16: Club meeting. We’ll be sharing our photos from our assignment: “Golden Hour”.
  • Sat. Sept. 19: Annual CAPA Coast to Coast Photo Walk. We’ll be walking at Drumbeg Park on Gabriola Island. Meet in the Park’s parking lot at 10:30am, and bring a friend as well as your camera!
  • Wed. Oct. 7: Club meeting. Guest speaker: Glenn Bartley, “Bird Photography Simplified”. Details and some of Glenn’s photos here.
  • Wed. Oct. 21: Club meeting. We’ll be sharing our photos from our assignment: “Action”. Interpret as you like!

  • Sunday, Nov. 22: Annual Club Photo Show & Sale at Rollo Centre, Gabriola Island, 12 to 4 pm. More info to come.
  • Wed. Dec. 2: Club meeting. Presentation by club member Ron Rivers. Ron will show us rugged and wild Patagonia, majestic Iguazu Falls, and the stark beauty of Antarctica with its penguins, whales and seals.
